Hey,

I'm looking to get another MK1 for a project car, and I want T-tops. This person I know, however, says the T-tops leak bad and there is no way to solve it. So I'm gonna take a poll: Do your T-tops leak? This might depict if I get a Sunroofed or T-topped MR2.

Mine do. But i have a MKII. Don't worry about a leak and get the car!

I wouldn't worry about it if it was an EXTREME pet-peeve of mine. If I'm in a car I have to stay dry, no questions asked.

I would though, thats the problem.

I'd love to be able to cruise around in the Sun with the T-tops. But like I said, water can NOT get into the car, ever. That is more critical to me and wiring is to most people.

Mine leak, or at least used to (now I have a broke passenger side window)... I took a thin coat of RTV (or any gasket sealer in a tube) on the edges of the weatherstrip and lightly placed the T-tops over it without securing them until the RTV dried and it worked really well, I admit it's kind of ghetto fabulous, but I tried to find new weatherstripping with no luck.

mine leaked so bad that my dome light filled with water and it driped out so much i had to have a towel with me to lay on my lap so i wasn't soaked. but its fixable. i have a rust hole behind my windsheild. its all fixable.

If it really matters that much then...

But hardtop = no fun for normal driving. Must be amazing for tracks, but mine was auto, so I traded instead.

Well I have a small leak on my T-Tops but only when it pouring down pretty hard but with light rain their no leaks. Only reason mine are leaking is because the car was never taken care of and the seals need to be replaced.

i have an mk2 and mine leak pretty bad. its mostly the seals by the latches on the tops and on the drivers side on the w/s post where the window dosent seal up perfect. i want to replace the seals and het the little eylet thingine from toyota that clamps the top down tighter but im still trying to divise a way to make it stop leaking for cheap. i will probably experiment with some black window urethane and see how that goes, im even going to try and make it look nice.
