That would be me. 8) I was actually the absolute first person to register for the event. I thought it was maybe not working right.

Speaking of autocross... At my event yesterday, my car was acting very strange. I'm going to go over some things and make sure everything is in good working order before getting on it again. I don't know if I was having some fuel starvation issues or some other thing, but I will hopefully be in good shape for both the drag and autocross event during the Spring Fling. I know there are some definitely fast drivers with MR2's so I don't want to have any mechanical issues that I can blame my failures on if I don't beat them. I'm definitely not expecting to be the fastest drag car. That's not what my car is good at for sure. But I do want to place fairly high at the autocross.

The class depends on your car and your mods.

Go to the scca website and download the .pdf solo II manual. You'll be able to classify your car after some reading. But, since I'm a nice guy ;) ... I can give a few hints. I don't know anything about your car. But if you have any mods that change the boost or if you've added an aftermarket turbo or boost controller, BOV, ...etc. Or if you've done an engine swap, you'll be in SM2 (Or SSM as it's called now). If your car is completely stock, then check the book to see what class your generation MR2 belongs in. If you haven't done any of those larger engine mods but have done more than a front sway bar and shocks, then read the book.

You can always just register in your stock class and then maybe have them change it at the event if it turns out you should be in another class.

dont worry we will help you, it is alot of fun and you wwill not regret doing it. you are not racing side by side, each person goes one at a time and then they see who goes the fastest in the course for their class. if you are a mk2 turbo with modifications you are in sm2, but dont worry if you mess up your class registering i'm sure they will let you change it there.

It was not the easiest to find, but there were directions on the central florida region's website.

We had a pretty good turnout. I think everyone's addicted now.

I, unfortunately, don't have any pictures from the event, but I think some other people do.

Coming soon. We had a GPS SNAFU on the way there and drove down some kind od Bubba truck dirt path trying to get to the track. One of the Jetta's debris shields rode home in the trunk.

Hey guys,

Just to add some info for those coming out to Autocross in Geneva. First there is a detour around a sink hole coming east on 46. Please follow the signs, these are the directions:from 46 to intersection Avenue C, then left onto old Geneva Rd and follow to W. Osceola Rd., right onto W. Osceola Rd. and follow to gun range Rd. about 2 miles. Once on Gun range Rd. (a dirt road) stay left and go to parking area and building. SR 46 intersects I-4 to the west, and 1-95 to the east.

Second: I am ready to try Ricky Fletcher's monster MK2 (without mishaps) again! Willing to instruct others if you like, sorry my times won't count for you (and don't count for any of your allowed runs) but you can ride along and maybe get some good pointers. For those that have not autocrossed at least three times there is a class for novices and usually is a big class of cars, especially this early in the season. Maybe we can group MR2's only in three classes NA, SC/Turbo, and street tire and get a MR2 meet T-shirt for the winner in each class? Can we do that Mike?

Third: If you guys have any questions either post here or email me r_a_blair@live.com would be happy to answer questions about autcross.

Have fun and look forward to seeing ya'll out there next weekend. I'll be out of town thurs. thru Sat. so won't be able to see ya'll at Old Town.

I noticed that too. The date will be April 11th too and not the 19th. I will also be at the event in a more supportive role. It will make for too long of a weekend for me to run my car at the autox this year. But I am available as a co-driver if desired or to provide some guidance and advice on setup and driving techniques.
