New to this form but not to MR2's

Postby jjohns1508 » Tue Feb 02, 2010 12:48 pm

Hello,
I married into the MR2 family. I met my wife to be in 1990. She was driving a 1985 white MR2 that she bought used in 1986. We have had it ever since. In 1999 I went through it and painted it, replaced some interior pieces, most outside plactics and some mechanicals.
The car has 213,000 miles on it.
A couple of months ago she toyed with selling it, but she really loves it. I made the suggestion to fix it up and give it to our son, which she loved becasue it will stay in the family.
We haven't daily driven it in about 5 years. Even with it sitting my garage for a couple years it is due for anotehr going through.
This time my son (14 yrs old) and I are going to go through it again and fix it up.
We have 2 years before he can drive it and were going to rebuild the motor, replace some suspension pieces, clean everything up, and paint it black (his request).
I'll tell you what. 10 years ago I had no problem find interior pieces, but now it sure is hard to find things like A/C vents, visors and OEM carpet.
I dont have any pics yet but I will post before and after while this process takes place.
